Title

THE WORLD'S FIRST DEEP SEA DIVERS

Vassilis and Yiannis are the last sponge divers of the Aegean Sea. They come from a community of seafarers that defied science, diving beyond 100m at a time it was believed human lungs would collapse at 50m. Their story is one of human endurance, survival and remarkable adaptation underwater which inspired both scientists and pioneering free-diving champions, from Jacques Mayol to Umberto Pelizzari and Pipin Ferreras. With unique access to the last sponge divers of the Mediterranean, unseen film archive and the expertise of leading free-divers and scientists, the film brings alive one people’s singular journey to survive in an underwater environment.  - IN DEVELOPMENT
