Title

CUCINA POVERA

The Mediterranean Diet is served in some of the world’s most exclusive restaurants and is considered to be the healthiest in the world, reducing chronic illnesses, obesity and depression. Yet it was created as a diet of the poor; a starvation diet based on pulses, vegetables, grains fruits and nuts, cultivated on the shores of the Mediterranean for centuries. Five main characters sharing a common passion for Mediterranean food travel across the region, to discover why this tradition of the poor remains relevant to us today. From Italy to Israel/Palestine, Greece, Morocoo and Spain, a 5-part series weaves together contemporary and immersive observational scenes, rare film archive and intimate encounters with a secondary cast of acclaimed chefs, home cooks and food experts.
