CineDoc 2017-18 opens with the screening of “Ultra”, the story of five runners who dedicate their lives to completing the Spartathlon Ultra Distance Race.
The film, which screened in Visions du Reel and Sarajevo Film Festival, is shortlisted for the best documentary award by the European Film Academy. The Greek premiere of the film (3/10) will be followed by a discussion with the director Balazs Simonyi.
Other films screened throughout the year include “Dolphin Man”, Lefteris Charitos' portrait of legendary freediver Jacques Mayol, Peter Svatek’s “Theater of Life” about the unique soup kitchen created renowned chef Massimo Bottura and “Obscuro Barroco”, Evangelia Kranioti’s anticipated new film about gender and metamorphosis, set against the city of Rio de Janeiro.
Established in 2009, CineDoc organises regular screenings of award-winning European and international documentary films. Screening across Greece, CineDoc selects films relevant to our contemporary lives, as a catalyst for discussion, inspiration and impact. Special attention is given to films promoting inter-cultural understanding, sustainable living and human rights.
CineDoc is also founding member of the 2015 initiative MOVING DOCS which organizes pan-European documentary screenings and campaigns, in collaboration with EDN and more than 20 partners across Europe.
