Cinedoc 2016-17 opens with the screening of ‘At Home in the World’ an intimate depiction of the everyday lives of five refugee children at a Danish Red Cross asylum school. The film is also screened as a live event in France, Germany, Greece, Italy and Sweden, through the EDN-lead distribution network MovingDocs. The screening in Athens is followed by a Q&A with refugee teachers from the Hope-School Skaramagas Refugees Camp, a volunteer from the Piraeus Open School for Immigrants, a UNICEF education specialist and is will be moderated by Patrick Strickland from Al Jazeera English -a discussion which is broadcast on the web via Facebook Live. 

Other films screened throughout the year include Tomer Heymann’s ‘Mr. Gaga’, Fredrik and Marcus Gretten’s ‘Becoming Zlatan’ and Ido Haar’s ‘Presenting Princess Shaw’

Established in 2009, CineDoc organises regular screenings of award-winning European and international documentary films. Screening across Greece, CineDoc selects films relevant to our contemporary lives, as a catalyst for discussion, inspiration and impact. Special attention is given to films promoting inter-cultural understanding, sustainable living and human rights.

CineDoc is also founding member of the 2015 initiative MOVING DOCS which organizes pan-European documentary screenings and campaigns, in collaboration with EDN and more than 20 partners across Europe.
